IN BRIEF

Cregan comes from the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire/House of the Dragon/Game of Thrones chronologically some time before the original GoT series.

At thirteen, he inherited the position Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North after the death of his father, Lord Rickon Stark. At sixteen, he came into his age of majority and was forced to challenge his uncle when the other proved reluctant to relinquish power as regent. At eighteen, he imprisoned his uncle and three of his cousins to successfully assume his role, marrying his childhood friend. At twenty, he became a widower after Arra's death in childbirth, leaving behind a newborn son who he named Rickon in homage to his father.

In the Targaryen civil war for succession between the "blacks" and "greens," Cregan upheld oaths made by his father to support Rhaenyra Targaryen as the rightful heir to the Iron Throne against the usurping greens held by Aegon II. He became close friends with her son, the prince Jacaerys, both affirming a pact of ice and fire between House Stark and House Targaryen.

Initially he would declare two thousand veteran "greybeards" for Rhaenyra, soldiers better served dying in battle than remaining in the North for the onset of winter. As the war progressed he would himself march south with a considerably larger host.
